Individuals with learning disabilities are of average or above average intelligence, but the disability creates a gap between ability and performance. Many times ADHD and autism are present as well.

Why Help Kids Early?

• Adolescents who have learning disabilities are at increased risk for drug and alcohol abuse, and an estimated 17-60% of teens in treatment for substance abuse had learning disabilities.

• More than 30% of students with learning disabilities drop out of high school vs. 10% of students who do not have ld.

• If a child with learning disabilities receives help by the first grade, he or she has a 90% chance of reading on track.
